Cortes Island Playschool

The SCCA is proud to house, at Mansons Hall, the Cortes Island Playschool. It is a VIHA-licensed childcare facility with fully qualified Early Childhood Educators, that has an equipped indoor space, a brand new play structure in the fenced playschool yard, and a license to accommodate children as young at 8 months old until school age.
At our playschool, we believe in the power of play as a fundamental part of learning. Our approach combines structured activities with free exploration, allowing children to develop at their own pace. We emphasize social skills, emotional growth, and cognitive development in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is designed to inspire a lifelong love of learning, ensuring each child feels valued and supported.

Nurturing Young Minds with Playful Learning

The Playschool offers children a safe and healthy learning environment for experimentation and growth in all areas. Through play, arts and contact with the natural world, the program nurtures the whole child, responding to the emotional, intellectual, social, and creative needs of each child individually and within the context of the group.

The program at Cortes Island Playschool is built on the needs of the children it serves, recognizing that often this is their first experience away from the family. With praise and encouragement, combined with simple, consistent and gentle verbal direction, sharing, cooperation and respect for others’ feelings and politeness are encouraged at all times. Each child is encouraged and supported to develop positive relationships with other children and adults.

$10 a Day

The Cortes Island Playschool is now a part of the $10 a Day Childcare BC program. Fees are $10 a day for 4 hours or more, and $7 for under 4 hours. In addition for qualifying families the BC Affordable Child Care Benefit program offers further subsidy, about which our staff will be happy to provide information.
